And here is the prayer we wrote in response to the tragedy. Please continue to pray it with us this week.

Dear God, you are our refuge and our strength, a very present help in time of trouble: shine the light of your presence on all who are huddled in the darkness of fear, pain, and grief this day, especially the people of Newtown. Grant us the grace to bind our hearts to your heart, so the people facing such devastation may feel in the place within, the place too deep for words, our love shining through yours. Look with compassion on all who lost a loved one in Friday’s violence and be their rock in a world freshly overturned. All this we ask through the love of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
