10 Lenses Online Bible Study

Welcome to 10 Lenses, an experimental online Bible study course for the summer of 2012. Studying the Bible can be daunting because the book is so thick. And old. And there are lots of really hard to pronounce names in it! Plus, I’ve heard that if you read it, your eyes might be opened to the God who continues to breathe life into the Bible’s pages and into each one of us. And the possibility of encountering God is always daunting. Daunting and wonderful.

But studying the Bible need not be daunting. Yes, the book is thick — but it’s really a whole bunch of little books put together. Yes, the book is old — but every time we read it, we’re a little bit new, and that makes the Bible new, as well. And yes, there are lots of really hard to pronounce names in it — but…well, I don’t have any comfort on that one, except to say that messing up saying those names isn’t too big a deal.

The ten week 10 Lenses class seeks to make studying the Bible less daunting. Watch the videos, do some of the exercises, engage other participants in the comments, and perhaps together we will come to a deeper appreciation and greater comfort level with this wonderful collection of witnesses to God’s movement that we call the Bible.
