Dr. John Whiteside, Director of Music Ministries

staffjohn2Dr. John Whiteside is a native Bostonian who showed a predilection for music at a young age. He started piano at age 4 and moved on to the organ, finding a lifelong delight in the large console and pipes of that instrument. He has studied organ with John Ferris, Max Miller, and Anton Heiller and conducting with J. Julius Baird and the late Robert Shaw, and has received a Doctorate in Organ Performance. After all these years he is pleased that he has finally figured out how to make choirs sound their best, and is honored to have been making music with the St. Stephen’s Community since March 2009.

Sue McHugh, Director of Children and Youth Ministries   untitled-16

Sue McHugh is the mother of five boys and has more energy than all of them put together!  Sue became our Director of Children and Youth Ministries in 2015, having headed up our VBS program the previous year and served as an active parent volunteer in multiple St. Stephen’s ministries.  When not at St. Stephen’s or managing her kids, Sue does work for homeless women as a dental hygienist– and she’s an avid ice hockey player, too!

Susan Esielonis, Financial Administration

Susan Esielonis became the administrative assistant at St. Stephen’s in May 2005 and affectionately calls herself “the girl behind door #1,” a reference to being the first of the three offices in the St. Stephen’s Parish House. In spring of 2013, she switched positions to become our financial administrator.
